APPLY: 2022 FG/HCD National Essay and Poetry Writing Competition
The Human Capital Development arm of the Ministry of Education has called for entries to the 2022 FG/HCD National Essay and Poetry Writing Competition.
The competition comes with prizes inclusive of scholarship and laptops, Samsung and Apple ipads for the students with selected entries after all entries have been accessed.
Students of Senior Secondary classes (SS1-3) across the country are encouraged to apply for this contest as it helps to showcase their writing prowess and the prizes to be won are indeed supportive of their academic careers at both secondary and tertiary levels of their education.

Entries are invited from students of Senior Secondary classes (SS1-3) across the country for the National Essay and Poetry Writing Competition organised by the Human Capital Development in Nigeria (HCD).
Nigeria’s Human Capital Development Program was designed in recognition that human capital development plays a critical role in addressing poverty while ensuring participatory and sustainable economic growth.
All entries for essay writing should be 1,000 to 1,200 words, while all entries for poetry should NOT be less than 300 words.
Duration and Reward
- Prizes will be presented to the winners at the National HCD Strategy Document Launch in Abuja, Nigeria.
- First Place: Educational grant, Laptop and plaque
- Second Place: Educational grant, iPad and plaque
- Third Place: Educational grant, Tablet and Plaque

All entries should be in MS Word/PDF format with writer’s details, contact number of parents/guardian(s), name and contact of school and location.
